2023: Bishop Kukah: “Politicians fighting for the national cake, don’t die for them.”
The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, has cautioned political supporters against killing themselves as a show of support for their candidates.
According to Kukah, opposition politicians are allies competing for a piece of the national pie and shouldn’t be taken seriously because of this.
On Tuesday, Kukah revealed this while taking questions for the Sunrise Daily program on Channels Television.
“These politicians are fighting and have fought their entire lives for the national cake, which they will divide amongst themselves,” he remarked.
Therefore, it is in the general interest of Nigerians to recognize that voting is a must for survival.
In addition, Kukah stated that supporters of politicians “must comprehend that these politicians know themselves,” notwithstanding their bluster and pose.
The clergyman asked people to learn how to control their enthusiasm when it comes to politics, adding that people should not take seriously the grandstanding of the politicians, while asking supporters of political candidates to be a little more prudent and restrained.
