Bright Osayi-Samuel, a defender for Fenerbahce, has thought back on his performance in the Super Eagles’ tenacious 1-0 victory over the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau on Monday.
In the fourth matchday of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series, the 25-year-old put up a strong showing against Baciro Cande’s team.
Moses Simon scored the lone goal for the Super Eagles in the encounter after Osayi-Samuel successfully converted a penalty.
“After receiving the ball, I moved into the box after noticing there was room. The coach always wants me to attack and defend during practise, Osayi-Samuel said to NFF TV.
“When I received the ball, I viewed it as a chance for me to attack. I had intended to dribble past the defender, but he tackled me.
Like I said, I tried to give the squad my all, and I’m glad we were successful.
After his debut last year against Portugal, Osayi-Samuel has made three appearances for the three-time African champions.
