For a training session leading up to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has listed 85 referees.
The CAF’s Tuesday shortlist of referees did not include any Nigerian officials.
The list includes centre referees, assistant referees, VAR technicians, technical instructors, physical trainers, and IT support.
The two countries with the most referees on the list, Egypt and Algeria, each have three.
From Mauritius, South Africa, Morocco, and Egypt, four VAR referees were chosen. From Zimbabwe, Burundi, Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal, Morocco, and Djibouti, seven technical teachers and physical trainers were chosen.
One of the 24 nations vying for the championship at the 2023 AFCON finals is Nigeria, represented by the Super Eagles.
From January 13 to February 11, 2024, Cote d’Ivoire will serve as the competition’s host.
