Two corps members who were taken hostage by bandits in the Yargoje hamlet of the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State have been freed by troops of the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade working with the Nigeria Police.
The corps members were saved on Thursday following a cooperative operation, according to a statement released on Friday and signed by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations.

“The Corps members were kidnapped by the criminals when they were travelling from Edo to Katsina State. The victims were successfully freed from their captors thanks to the prompt reaction and rescue efforts of the Nigerian Police and the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army.
The rescued corps members are currently in the care of the Nigerian Police in Kankara and have received the support and medical care required to guarantee their physical and mental well-being.
In order to improve soldiers’ proactive operational engagement of criminal elements endangering the security of the country, the Nigerian Army “continues to solicit the cooperation and support of the public in providing timely and relevant information,” the statement read.
