Texas, Texas, United States (US), authorities are accusing about 18 nurses of Nigerian heritage of using phoney academic credentials.

This is in accordance with a statement that our correspondent on Sunday saw on the website of the Texas board of nursing.

A big plot to fraudulently obtain diplomas and transcripts, as uncovered by continuing investigations, involved 23 practising nurses in all, according to the statement.

On January 25, 2023, the investigations known as “Operation Nightingale” were begun with the goal of apprehending those involved in a scheme to sell fake and fraudulent nursing degree diplomas and transcripts. The investigation was described as a multi-state coordinated law enforcement action involving the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.

The Texas Board of Nursing went on to say that those who participated in the scheme obtained phoney nursing qualifications that they utilised to take the national nursing board exam.

According to the statement, the following nurses have been formally charged for earning educational certificates falsely.

When there is reason to believe that a nurse has broken one of the laws listed in Tex. Occ. Code 301.452(b) or another statute, the board is allowed to initiate formal charges against the nurse. Check out Tex. Occ. Code 301.458. Also accessible to the public are formal charges. Examine Tex. Occ. Code 301.466. (b).

Please be aware that formal charges are not the end of the matter and that nurses are still allowed to practise while formal charges are being investigated.
