The achievement was made possible by a successful ambush by troops, according to a statement signed by Captain Yahaya Bello on behalf of Force Information Officer Operation HADARIN DAJI on Friday.
A successful rescue operation resulted in the recovery of 17 kidnapped victims and the seizure of operational motorcycles from terrorists, according to a statement from the Joint Task Force North West’s Operation HADARIN DAJI, which was deployed at Malekachi in Kebbi state in response to a distress call.
This achievement was just recently made during the early hours of October 12, 2023, when Operation HADARIN DAJI troops stationed at Malekachi carried out a rescue operation in response to credible reports that terrorists had abducted an unknown number of people at Kanya village in Danko- Wasagu LGA of Kebbi state and were attempting to cross with the victims towards Niger state.

Quickly mobilising troops, they set up ambushes at the suspected terrorist crossing points and routes in Karenbana hamlet. The subsequent use of superior firepower by the troops led the terrorists to flee while still wounded, freeing 17 abducted people in the process. Six women and eleven men, including a police officer who was abducted in Danko- Wasagu, were among the victims who were eventually rescued. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Bena received the victims after they had been saved so that they could be reunited with their relatives. 5 motorcycles that had been burned in place were also found by the army.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, who is in head of Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, praised the soldiers’ prompt action and urged them to go further in order to continue denying the terrorists’ freedom of movement. He also expressed his appreciation for the timely information that was given by the public and that resulted in the victims’ rescue. He asked them to be more watchful and to alert the army right once to any terrorist activity they observe in their neighbourhoods.
