On Friday, Mr. Majid Kamrani, the Cultural Consular at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nigeria, made the offer to teach interested Nigerians how to make materials for interior design.
On the eve of the 16th International Arts and Crafts Expo in Abuja, Kamrani revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to him, Iranians were using this as a means of extending cultural diplomacy to Nigerians.
He believes that this will significantly increase cultural linkages between Nigerians and Iranians and foster understanding between the two nations.
According to the cultural consulate, Nigerians who expressed interest would receive training on the methods used to create Iranian goods like persian rugs, calligraphy, flower vases, and other items used for home décor.
“We are glad to return for the 16th INAC. Our purpose in being here is to display our centuries-old arts and crafts.
“INAC is a lovely venue to display this, and we are prepared to train Nigerians on the creation of these materials for home décor we have presented here.
The value of a rug increases the more it is used, just like gold, as many people are aware. We are prepared to instruct Nigerians in its production.
“We are happy to undertake this because we know it would help the unemployed Nigerians, and the training will be completely free with no financial obligations.
“The majority of the home décor items we’ve shown are made of wood, pottery, iron, animal bones, and other materials.
Reiterating that the creation of arts and crafts might serve as the foundation for economic growth, Kamrani urged governments to collaborate with other countries to provide skills to people. (NAN)
