According to PRNigeria, a 16-year-old female student who was kidnapped from Birnin Yauri Federal Government College in Kebbi State gave birth to a child while being held captive.

The young mother is one of the 11 female students who have not yet been freed when gunmen kidnapped over 100 pupils and eight staff on June 17, 2021, at the mixed-gender boarding school.

Security personnel were able to rescue some of the students a few days after their kidnapping, while others managed to flee from the assailants as they were removing them from the building.
The instructors and 30 pupils were also freed by the bandits.

According to reports, the girl, whose name could not be verified as of press time, gave birth to a son at the abductors’ camp in the bush.

One of the sources claimed that despite many ransom payments and prisoner exchanges with the kidnappers, the parents of the 11 schoolgirls still being held captive showed tremendous anxiety.

Families of the kidnapped students donated and paid the ransom for the release of their daughters when the authorities, particularly Kebbi Governor Atiku Bagudu, refused to negotiate with the armed gang that sought payment.

The insider said, “It is disheartening that the bandits collected significant ransoms, married off several of the captives, and still refused to free the other abductees.
