15 internet fraudsters have been found guilty and given varied prison sentences by Justice O. I. Adelaja of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court Kubwa.
Emmanuel Ndubuisi Junior, Obinna Favour, Azuh Chidubem, Christopher Enaho, Abdullahi Sani, Atoyebi Damilare James, Chinonso Peter, and Israel Samuel are the prisoners. Others include Derick Beshel, Eugene Joseph Boniface, and Matthew Gideon. Ikechukwu Idris, Godwin Ifeanyi, Suleiman Dauda, and Aliu Dauda make up the remaining group.
“That you Emmanuel Ndubuisi Junior aka Daniel Howard sometime in 2021 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did cheat by personation when you misrepresented yourself to be one Daniel Howard a citizen of Brazil and a cryptocurrency investment manager on Gmail address danielhowardsteve@gmail.com with intent to defraud whereby you obtained the sum of Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($7,800) from one Sophia and thereby committed an offence co,” read one of the charges
To the one-count counts brought against them, they all entered guilty pleas.
Justice Adelaja found Junior guilty based on their admissions and handed down a sentence of one year in prison and a N2 million fine. While Favour received a one-year prison sentence or a choice of a N1 million fine, he also forfeited $7,800 to the Federal Government.
Ifeanyi received a one-year prison sentence or a fine of N500,000, while Chidubem received the same sentence plus the option of a N1 million fine.
Other criminals received non-custodial sentences consisting of a variety of community service hours that had to be monitored by Corrections Service officials.
Additionally, all prisoners must give the federal government their cell phones.
