15 online scammers are jailed by a court
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court Kubwa’s Justice O. I. Adelaja found 15 online scammers guilty and gave them a range of prison sentences.
The defendants are: Israel Samuel, Emmanuel Ndubuisi Junior, Obinna Favour, Azuh Chidubem, Christopher Enaho, Abdullahi Sani, Atoyebi Damilare James, and Atoyebi Damilare. Others include Derick Beshel, Matthew Gideon, and Eugene Joseph Boniface. Suleiman Dauda, Aliu Dauda, Ikechukwu Idris, and Godwin Ifeanyi make up the remaining group.
One of the charges stated that Emmanuel Ndubuisi Junior, also known as Daniel Howard, “cheated by personation sometime in 2021 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court when you misrepresented yourself to be one Daniel Howard, a citizen of Brazil and a crypto investment manager on Gmail address danielhowardsteve@gmail.com with intent to defraud whereby you obtained the sum of Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($7,800) from one Sophia and thereby committed an off
They all entered guilty pleas to the single-count accusations brought against them.
Justice Adelaja found Junior guilty based on their admissions, and he was given the choice of a N2 million fine or a year in prison. Additionally, he forfeited $7,800 to the Federal Government, whereas Favour received a one-year prison sentence or a choice of a N1 million fine.
Ifeanyi received a one-year prison sentence or a fine of N500,000, while Chidubem received a one-year prison sentence with the option of a N1 million fine.
Other criminals received non-custodial sentences that included various hours of community work under the supervision of Corrections work officials.
Additionally, all prisoners must turn in their cell phones to the federal government.
