In the Kura Local Government Area of Kano State, at least 14 people perished in an automobile accident near Imawa town along the Zaria-Kano route.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, the state’s FRSC Sector Commander, confirmed the incident to reporters in Kano on Friday.
He said that 14 people were killed in the collision, which happened when a truck with the licence plate MKA 537 XN lost control and struck pedestrians who had just finished their Friday prayers.

“We received a distress call at approximately 01:50 p.m. on June 28, 2024,” Abdullahi stated. “After learning of the incident, we promptly dispatched our staff and vehicle to the scene of the accident.”
“To prevent such preventable tragedies, the FRSC is committed to road safety and urges all road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.”
The sector commander sent his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and reassured the public that investigations were still on to determine the precise cause of the disaster.
