After 68 days in captivity, the Zamfara State Police Command stormed a bandits’ camp and freed 14 abducted people.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), S P Mohammed Shehu, released a statement to journalists in Gusau, the state’s capital, that contained this information.

Two adult males, seven females, and five infants under 2 years old made up the fourteen hostages that were freed as a consequence of the operation.

According to the statement, the victims told the police detectives during debriefing that on January 1, 2023 at around 2300 hours, a large group of suspected bandits stormed Anguwar Mangoro and Gidan Maidawa villages in Gusau Local Government Area and abducted them to their camp, where they were held captive for 68 days.
“The victims who were in sympathetic condition have been transferred to the police facility in Gusau for medical care and after that, they were reunited with their family and relatives.”
The victims were congratulated on regaining their freedom by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kolo Yusuf, who also assured them that he would always be committed to defending the lives and property of the public.
