13 alleged ‘Yahoo boys’ were detained by the EFCC in Enugu schools

In Enugu State, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 18 alleged internet scammers.

They were chosen from various areas across the state, the spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren said in a statement on Tuesday.

Among the suspects was Chigozie Philips, who founded Holy Family School in Abakpa and is accused of teaching would-be cybercriminals.

On Monday, a sting operation resulted in the capture of thirteen of Phillips’ proteges.

They are Nelson Nnaji, Elochukwu Chukwuemeka Michael, Kingsley Okorie, Joacin Kelvin, Kelechi Ibe, Chinonso James, Udeh Isaiah, and Michael Chukwuemeka.

Desmond James, Ozoma Chinonso Anthony, Uchenna Aka, Ifeanyi Ozor Bright, Etuma John, Okafor Chukwuemeka, and Raymond Chinaza are some of the others.

Twenty mobile phones and two laptops were among the things recovered from the suspects, according to Uwujaren.

When the investigation is finished, the suspects will be charged in court because they have provided helpful statements, he continued.
