Police in Ondo State have launched a manhunt for a commercial motorcyclist suspected of committing a rape against a 12-year-old girl.
The suspect, whose identity remained unknown, was said to have committed the offense in Igbokoda, the capital of the state’s Ilaje Local Government Area.
According to sources, the suspect enticed the young girl who was peddling puff-puffs before luring her into an abandoned building and forcibly defiling five elementary school students.
A source stated that the perpetrator, a native of Kebbi State, went into concealment before departing the state, and that detectives had traced him to Kebbi State.
The incident occurred on May 19, 2023, according to Joy, who identified herself as the victim’s mother and spoke about the occurrence.
“A few minutes before 7 p.m., she returned home, but I promptly spotted her. I sensed something was amiss because she appeared fatigued and weary. She was attempting to describe what transpired when she collapsed and was revived at the hospital.
State police spokeswoman Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya verified the incident and stated that the command has begun monitoring the suspect.
