The Ekiti court has remanded a 12-year-old boy in a juvenile home following accusations of stabbing two brothers.

The Chief Magistrate Court in Ekiti State has ordered a 12-year-old boy to be remanded in a juvenile home, following allegations that he had stabbed two brothers on their hands and shoulders.

On August 10th, the occurrence happened in Ado Ekiti’s Omi Olori locality.

On Wednesday, the presiding judge of the case, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun, made a ruling that due to his minor status, the boy would be tried in juvenile court.

He ordered for him to be remanded at a juvenile home and set August 16 as the next date for further mention of the case.

According to the prosecutor, Sections 186, 421, and 181(d) of the Laws of Ekiti State in 2021 could potentially be violated due to the boy’s actions that were deemed disruptive.

The lad refuted the accusations and was represented by Mr. Gboyega Abiola, who implored the court to release his client on bail with assurances of no absconding.

The decision for granting bail is still pending while proceedings are ongoing.
