In a series of collisions along Ejule-Ochadamu near Olofu Bridge, Ochadamu region of Kogi State, eleven people have been rendered irreparably burned.

The terrible accident included 20 automobiles, according to a statement released on Thursday by the Federal Road Safety Corps.

FRSC Public Education Officer Bisi Kazeem called the collision regrettable and preventable, urging drivers to keep their cars in good working order.

The 18 persons who were involved in the horrific collision were discovered by the crash investigation team.
Out of the total, seven victims—three men and four women—were injured to varying degrees, while the other 11—the sexuality of whom could not be determined at the time of the rescue operation—were burned beyond recognition.

“The examination further indicated that road blockage and break failure, a technical flaw that adversely affected the performance of the vehicle’s braking system, were the primary causes of the collision and subsequent fire outbreak that cost the innocent lives of the victims.

As of the time of this announcement, the emergency rescue team of the Corps had finished evacuating the burn victims as well as transporting the injured people to the hospital.

He said that the acting Corps Marshal of the FRS, Dauda Ali Biu, had sent out men to guarantee that the affected section of the road was free of obstructions and that traffic could move freely.

The Acting Corps Marshal further instructed Commanding Officers to intensify routine inspection and sensitization for all fleet operators across the country while also denouncing the risks and harms associated with poor vehicle maintenance, willful disregard of signs and warnings about mechanical deficiencies in the vehicle, and driving faster than the posted speed limit.

The FRSC toll-free line 122 and National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM, which are always open for all users of the road to report emergencies at any time, were other resources he urged the public to always use.
