The Volvo DAF truck, registered as KWA 230 SKK, was involved in an accident on Friday, November 3.
The Kebbi State Police Command said that a 40-year-old Sule from Gada Local Government Area in Sokoto was the driver of the truck.

“From Sokoto, the truck was travelling to Ibadan, Oyo State, with people and bags of beans in it. The truck driver lost control of the vehicle when it got to Giron Masa village in Shanga LGA. It somersaulted as a result, injuring 21 people to varying degrees, according to the statement.
As soon as they received the complaint, a group of police officers from Shanga Division raced to the site and took the injured people to the General Hospital Shanga, where they were treated.
“Eleven deaths have been confirmed by the medical professional, and the remaining victims are responding to treatment.”
Chris Aimionowane, the state commissioner of police, expressed sympathy to the relatives of the deceased passengers, wishing them a peaceful resting place, according to Abubakar.
To avert future recurrence, the CP urged on the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and other road users to always install sufficient safety measures in their vehicles and to be aware of their surroundings.
They were also counselled by Aimionowane to drive more cautiously, avoid overloading, and refrain from being careless.
