Senator Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, has been appointed as the Senate President of the 10th Assembly by the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Hon. Tajudeen Abbas of Kaduna State has been appointed as the Speaker of the House.
Felix Morka, the party’s national publicity secretary, made this announcement to journalists after the NEC meeting on Monday at the national secretariat in Abuja.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee met today, Monday, May 8, 2023 to consider reports of consultations and meetings held with the President-Elect, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, other Party leaders, and stakeholders on zoning arrangement for 10th National Assembly leadership positions,” the speaker said.
“The NWC respectfully took note of the outcomes of the talks between the President-Elect and the NWC leadership. In order to guarantee the support of the candidates for leadership positions in the National Assembly and Party members across the country, the NWC called for more extensive and improved consultation with the necessary stakeholders.
“The zoning arrangement submitted to the NWC is as follows: Deputy Senate President – (North West), Senator Barau Jubrin (Kano); Senate President – South-South, Senator Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom).
Speaker of the House of Representatives for the North West is Hon. Abass Tajudeen (Kaduna); Hon. Ben Kalu (Abia) is the Deputy Speaker for the South East.
