107 Stranded Nigerians Deported from Libya

They were welcomed by NEMA Director General Mustapha Ahmed, who was represented by Chief Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Mr. Aziz Afunku.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on Tuesday that 177 stranded Nigerians have been evacuated from Tripoli, Libya.

The Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with the registration number 5A-DMG, which touched down at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Ikeja at around 3:55 PM, was used to transport the returnees into the nation.

They were welcomed by NEMA Director General Mustapha Ahmed, who was represented by Chief Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Mr. Aziz Afunku.

A female and a male infant were among the returnees. There were three boys and five girls.

According to the NEMA director, 105 stranded Nigerians were ultimately repatriated, and 281 more were given assistance to do so in March 2023.

259 Nigerians have received assistance to enter the nation as of April 2023.

This is despite the fact that, since 2017, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been helping stranded Nigerians in Libya who are in need of assistance to return home.
