A family of ten was returning from a wedding in Kano State when they were killed in a car accident along the Kaduna-Kachia route.
The accident was confirmed by the FRSC’s Kano Sector Commander, Zubairu Mato, on Monday. He blamed the driver losing control after doing a risky manoeuvre.
He said that when the collision occurred, the Gulf car was overcrowded. 8 adults and 2 children, according to him, were among the victims.
Around 5 p.m. on Sunday, a horrible tragedy took place close to the village of Makyelli, which is close to Idon and where they were travelling to Kachia.
The victims, all male family members, including some married individuals, it was learned, were all male.
According to reports, the firewood-transporting lorry collided head-on with the vehicles, killing everyone on board.
All of the victims were from Kano but lived in Kachia town in Kaduna State, according to Isiyaku Musa Kachia, a native of Kachia town who also happened to know some of the victims.
The majority of them I know. They travelled to Kano to attend a wedding in their hometown, but on the way back to Kachia, the Golf car they were riding in collided with a truck carrying firewood, and everyone inside the car perished instantly, the man claimed.
He said they were interred on Monday in Kachia in accordance with Islamic customs.
